{"id":1837,"date":"2024-11-14T08:16:09","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T08:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/non-categorizzato\/our-finishes\/"},"modified":"2024-11-14T08:21:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T08:21:52","slug":"our-finishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/en\/non-categorizzato\/our-finishes\/","title":{"rendered":"Our finishes."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are they and what are they used for?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Galvanic finishes<\/strong> are surface treatments applied to metallic materials through electrochemical processes, with the aim of improving their physical and chemical characteristics such as corrosion resistance, hardness, aesthetic appearance and electrical conductivity. <br\/>These treatments are achieved through the use of electrical currents in a solution containing the metal to be deposited, which bonds to the surface of the treated part, creating a <strong>protective<\/strong> or <strong>decorative<\/strong> <strong>layer<\/strong>. <br\/><strong>Galvanic finishes<\/strong> are widely used in many industries and, each has specific characteristics that meet different needs depending on the type of application.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"854\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Catalogo_GSM__page-0011-854x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1830\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Catalogo_GSM__page-0011-854x1024.jpg 854w, https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Catalogo_GSM__page-0011-250x300.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Catalogo_GSM__page-0011-768x921.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Catalogo_GSM__page-0011-1280x1536.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.gsmgalvanica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Catalogo_GSM__page-0011.jpg 1477w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 854px) 100vw, 854px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are ours?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very common type of electroplating finish is <strong>chrome plating<\/strong>, which involves applying a layer of chromium to the surface of a metal, usually steel. Chrome plating offers significant advantages in terms of aesthetics and durability, making the material more resistant to corrosion and improving its resistance to wear. This treatment is often used to impart a shiny, reflective finish, which not only has aesthetic value, but also helps protect the surfaces of mechanical components, such as automotive and motorcycle parts, reducing the risk of damage from weathering or rubbing.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nickel plating<\/strong> is another popular electroplating treatment. Here, a thin layer of nickel is deposited on the surface of a metal material, such as steel, to improve its corrosion resistance, reduce friction and increase surface hardness. Nickel plating is particularly popular in electronics, where it is used to ensure good electrical conductivity, but also in the mechanical and automotive industries, where the treatment helps extend the life of components by preventing damage from exposure to moisture and chemicals.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gilding<\/strong> is an electroplating finish that involves applying a thin layer of gold to the surface of another metal, usually copper, silver, or brass. In addition to imparting a fine aesthetic appearance, gilding is used to improve corrosion resistance and to optimize electrical conductivity. This treatment is particularly used in the jewelry industry, to make high-value jewelry, but also in electronics, where gold-plated copper is used to ensure durable, high-quality connections. Gold plating is prized for its luster and its ability to maintain beauty over time by preventing oxidation.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, <strong>copper plating<\/strong> involves depositing a layer of copper on another metal, usually steel or brass. Copper plating is used to improve the adhesion of other coatings, such as chrome or nickel plating, but also to give the material some protection against corrosion. Although copper is not particularly resistant to corrosion in aggressive environments, copper plating is often the first step in a series of electroplating treatments, which includes additional protective finishes.
